Method and coverage
How we decide what goes in, and what we will not claim.
Sources
We collect from public sources only: company newsrooms and press wires, regional and trade news, public filings for listed companies, competitors' own store locators, careers feeds, and NOAA severe-weather reports. We do not use customer data, private permit exports or anything a subscriber gives us in confidence to produce another subscriber's briefing.
Evidence status
- Verified A primary source (company statement, filing, locator, agency report) confirms the fact, and an editor has checked it.
- Corroborated Two or more independent sources agree, or a primary source exists but a detail is still open.
- Unverified A single secondary source, or a derived signal. We publish these only as verification tasks, never as facts.
- Disputed Sources conflict. Not published until resolved.
Rules we hold ourselves to
- A location missing from a store locator is not a confirmed closure.
- Job postings are recruiting activity, not proven headcount growth.
- Severe-weather exposure near a location is not confirmed damage or guaranteed repair demand.
- Permit valuation is not distributor-addressable revenue.
- Ten articles about one announcement are one development, not ten.
- A filing type or a headline category is not an operating event. A fund buying shares is not an acquisition.
- Missing data is reported as a gap, never as "nothing happened".
- Interpretation is labelled as our read and kept apart from what happened. Nothing generated by software becomes a fact without an editor.
- We show one authoritative event date, separate from publication and first-observed dates. Where we cannot establish it, we say so.
- We do not publish numeric threat scores. Priority is a placement decision explained in words.
Territory model
A territory is an explicit list of states; you can note the metros you care about, and we use that to write the "why it matters" line. Matching is done at state level. We do not claim delivery-radius or drive-time precision.
Editorial review
Every issue and every alert is reviewed and approved by a person before it is published. Corrections are published as a new version of the issue; earlier versions stay readable.
